Celtic have had their fair share of players over the years that have arrived at the club for a sizeable transfer fee.

The Bhoys will have been frustrated to lose their Scottish Premiership title to arch rivals Rangers, and will be eager to wrestle back their title next term.

Joos Valgaeren is the first name on the list at number ten, with the former Celtic centre-back signing for the club for a fee of £5.13million.

Valgaeren made over 50 appearances in total for the Bhoys, before departing in 2005, as he moved to Belgian side Club Brugge. He called time on his playing career in 2009 after a spell with Dutch side FC Emmen.

Scott Brown is ninth on the list, as he signed for Celtic for a fee of £5.94million from Hibernian.

The midfielder went on to make over 600 appearances in total for the Bhoys, before it was announced that he would leave the club to sign for Aberdeen at the end of the 2020/2021 season.

Rafael Scheidt is eighth on the list, with the former Celtic man signing for the club for a fee of £6.48million from Brazilian side Gremio.

But his spell with the Bhoys was a forgetful one, and he left the club in 2002. After spells back in Brazil, Scheidt went on to sign for Beijing Renhe, which is where he finished his playing career in 2008.

Jozo Simunovic is seventh on the list, with the former Celtic centre-back signing for the club for a fee of £6.75million from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

Simunovic spent five years with the Scottish giants, before departing when his contract reached a conclusion in 2020, and he's been a free-agent since.

Christopher Jullien is next up, with the Celtic defender signing for the club for a fee of £7.20million.

Jullien has been a regular in the heart of the Celtic defence over the years, and has made 14 appearances in all competitions this term in an injury-hit campaign to date.

Neil Lennon is a well-known figure at Celtic for both his playing and managerial career. He signed for the club for a fee of £7.76million from Leicester City in the 2000/2001 season.

Lennon retired from his playing career in 2008, and went into management shortly after. After spells with the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Hibernian, he became Celtic's manager for the second time in 2019. But he parted company with the club in 2021 after a poor run of results.

Eyal Berkovic is next up, with the former Celtic man signing for the Bhoys for a fee of £7.92million from West Ham United in the 1999/2000 season.

He struggled to win over the Celtic fans though, and left in favour of a move to Manchester City in 2001. After calling time on his playing career in 2006, he is now the general manager of Israeli side Hapoel Petah Tikva.

John Hartson is the first name in the top three, with the former Celtic striker signing for a fee of £8.10million from Coventry City.

Hartson went on to finish his playing career with West Brom, and has been seen in football punditry since retiring.

Chris Sutton is in at number two, with the former Celtic forward signing for the club in the 2000/2001 season, for a fee of £8.55million.

He went on to have spells with both Birmingham City and Aston Villa, but is now seen regularly in punditry after calling time on his playing career in 2012.

Edouard is top of the list as Celtic's most expensive signing, with the forward arriving for a fee of £9.27million from French giants PSG.

The forward has gone on to score 81 goals in 162 appearances in total for the Bhoys, across a three-year spell with the club.
