According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic are weighing up a potential loan move for Sheffield Wednesday star Keiren Westwood.

The Bhoys are once again on course for a title win up in Scotland this season but they have been dealt a fair blow this month as they look to do that.

Indeed, goalkeeper Craig Gordon is set to be out for months with an injury and the Hoops now need to get in a new stopper with them looking short in terms of options between the sticks.

According to the report, then, they've made a move to try and get Scott Bain in but they are also weighing up a loan move for the Owls' keeper Westwood.

Despite Wednesday struggling for form this season, Westwood is still regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship and a vital part of the Hillsborough outfit's team.

They're bound to want to keep hold of him for the rest of the campaign, then, but if Celtic do make a move it'll be interesting to see exactly what happens with the Owls set for a mid-table finish this year.

The Verdict

Westwood is a very good goalkeeper and certainly a capable replacement for Craig Gordon.

It would have to take a very attractive loan offer for the Owls to even consider letting him go north of the border, though.
