Gary Hooper is a transfer target for Neil Lennon at Celtic, if he is made manager of the club on a permanent basis, according to a report by The Scottish Sun.
The 31-year-old is one of six out-of-contract players who have been released by Sheffield Wednesday, as manager Steve Bruce looks to put his own stamp on the squad.
Hooper has made six appearances for the Owls in the Championship this season, scoring one goal, after returning from a 15-month injury lay-off in March.
The centre-forward scored 31 goals in 89 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday and has been an important player for the club over the past few seasons.
Lennon signed Hooper for Celtic from Scunthorpe United in 2010 and the striker went on to score 82 goals for the club, winning two league titles and two Scottish Cups, before being sold to Norwich City in 2013.

His availability on a free transfer has prompted talk of a potential return to Celtic and The Scottish Sun are reporting that Hooper is a transfer target for Lennon, should he become permanent boss at the club.
Lennon succeeded Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park in February and was able to guide the club to their eighth straight league title, but his future at the club remains uncertain.
The Verdict
Hooper has been an important player for Sheffield Wednesday over the past few seasons and I'm a little surprised that Bruce decided not to offer him a new contract.
He is a very experienced striker with a good goalscoring record and would be a great signing for Celtic, especially as they would be getting him on a free transfer.
Hooper was a popular player with supporters at Celtic Park and perhaps he would favour a return to the club, as he considers the next move in his career.
