Middlesbrough are hoping to bring Celtic's Scott Sinclair back to England as they line up a £2m deal for the winger this summer.

The 30-year-old is enjoying his third season at Parkhead and he is on course to for an unprecedented treble treble with the Glasgow giants.

However, Sinclair's influence on the team has been reduced this season and the Sun are reporting that Boro want to sign him, regardless of whether they win promotion this season or not.

The report states that a £2m fee may be enough to convince Celtic to sell a player who is approaching the final 12 months of his deal.

So, would this be a big blow for the Scottish champions?

Our writers take a look...

Toby Wilding

"This would be a big loss for Celtic.

"Sinclair has been a key part of the Scottish giant's success in recent seasons, and you would think they would be keen to keep hold of the winger for his experience within the squad if nothing else.

"Frankly I'm surprised the reported asking price is as low as it is."

Chris Gallagher

"I think Celtic should sell.

"Sinclair was magnificent in his first season for the Hoops but he hasn't been able to maintain those high standards since.

"They need to be on the lookout for a quality winger this summer, which would push Sinclair down the pecking order, so a move should suit all parties."

Alfie Burns

"They'll be tempted to cash in here i think.

"Sinclair has had some good moments in green and white, but he's far from vital to Celtic right now.

"£2m doesn't seem like a lot and you might be tempted to squeeze a little bit more out of Middlesbrough, but i could see this one having legs."
