Paul Lambert is a manager under consideration if Celtic decide to sack Neil Lennon in the near future, according to a report from 90min.

The Hoops have had a few tough months, it has to be said, and Lennon has come under fire from supporters who clearly feel it's time for him to go.

The board are backing him, for now, but Lambert's name has come up so do some of our writers think the Ipswich man would be a good appointment? Let's take a look...

Toby Wilding

"I'm not entirely convinced on this one as a decent potential appointment to be honest.
"Obviously, there may be the appeal of bringing Lambert back to Celtic, given his previous links with the club, but Neil Lennon himself is a club legend, and you wonder if Lambert will want to cloud his Celtic legacy in the same way that feels to be happening now for his former teammate.
"It is also worth noting that Lambert's managerial career hasn't really seen him pull up many trees recently, having struggled with getting Ipswich out of League One, meaning you do wonder if he is the man capable of turning things around at Parkhead.
"Indeed, you do feel as though there are more high profile and potentially better-suited candidates for this role, who might be seen as more of a statement of intent from the club's board were they to be given the nod ahead of the current Ipswich, meaning I'm not sure Lambert is the best choice for the Scottish giants."
Phil Spencer "I think that Celtic should be aiming higher than this, to be honest. "Should the decision be made to sack Neil Lennon then I think the Bhoys need to find someone who can really take the club to the next level. "I'm not sure that Lambert does that. "With Rangers looking particularly strong at the moment I think that Celtic need someone with experience of success in Europe rather than a somewhat safe appointment like Lambert." Ned Holmes "I can't say I'm particularly convinced by this one. "We've seen Lambert's quality as a manager in the past but the job he's done at Ipswich hasn't been great and Celtic look like they need some serious help at the moment. "They need someone to come in and shake things up, I'm not sure that Lambert is that man. "Celtic are a big club and I think they can get a bigger and better manager than Lambert. This looks a move that's lacking in ambition to me but not a particularly safe one either. "There has to be a better option."
