Celtic are closing in on the signing of Wigan Athletic striker Kyle Joseph, a report from The Daily Mail has claimed.

Joseph has scored five goals in 12 appearances for the Latics so far this season, with the 19-year-old seemingly attracting plenty of attention in the process.

The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Rangers among those to have been linked with the teenager, as they look to secure the promising young attacker.

Now however, it looks as though Joseph's next destination this summer, is set to be Parkhead.

According to this latest report, Celtic are close to winning the race to sign the striker, who is out of contract at The DW Stadium at the end of this season.

It is thought that Joseph favours a move to Celtic, meaning a number of other high profile clubs look set to be left disappointed in this particular transfer battle.

Joseph is not the only young EFL talent who looks set to join Celtic in the summer, with the outgoing Scottish champions having reportedly already agreed a deal to sign versatile 19-year-old Liam Shaw from Sheffield Wednesday.

The Verdict

This does look as though it could be a decent deal for Celtic to complete.

Joseph is clearly a player who possesses plenty of talent and potential, as evidenced by the level and amount of interest that there is in the striker.

As a result, it does seem as though the teenager could certainly be a useful asset for the club for many years to come, once they get this deal done.

Indeed, the fact they have won this transfer race does look to be something of a coup for Celtic given that competition, which could give them a welcome lift after such a challenging 2020/21 campaign so far.
