According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are on the verge of signing Nottingham Forest target Lewis Morgan.

Lewis Morgan has been attracting plenty of interest as a result of his top performances for St Mirren but it looks like Nottingham Forest are set to miss out on this signing.

Celtic are now set to wrap up a deal to bring the young winger to Parkhead.

The Scotland under-21 international is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in Scotland and is tipped to become a key part of the national team in the future.

The young wide man is out of contract at the end of this season and St Mirren are now set to cash in on their prize asset before he leaves on the cheap in the summer.

The 21-year-old, who made his debut aged 17 against Celtic, has an eye for goal from midfield which has attracted a number of potential suitors.

He was attracting widespread interest in the summer but he chose to stay with St Mirren in the Scottish Championship and he has added to his burgeoning reputation with his tally of eight goals in 19 league games this season.

The Verdict

This is a disappointing piece of news for Forest because Morgan is likely to develop into a top performer at Championship level.

With age on his side, he is already causing all sorts of problems for defences north of the border.

Mark Warburton was keen on him but perhaps they will assess other options now that he has been sacked.
