Celtic set to battle Brighton to sign 21-year-old midfielder

Scottish giants Celtic and Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Tranmere Rovers midfielder Max Power, according to the Daily Mail.
Power is out of contract at Tranmere in the summer and could be set to depart Prenton Park after rejecting an offer of a new deal.
Celtic have been monitoring the midfielder’s progress but, according to the Mail, they face a fight for his signature as rivals Rangers have joined the race along with Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday.
Losing Power now would be a huge blow to Tranmere’s survival chances but they could let his contract run down as they will be still entitled to some compensation in the summer due to his age.
The 21-year-old, who has been with the Wirral club since the age of eight, has caught the eye this season with some impressive performances.
He is Tranmere’s top scorer this season with 10 goals in 32 appearances, including one against Premier League Swansea City in the FA Cup.
Power, who captained the club at every age group including the first-team, made his debut for Rovers in a Football League Trophy clash with Port Vale in August 2011 and has gone on to make 105 appearances for the club in all competitions.
It was this season he captained the Rovers first-team as club captain Marcus Holness has struggled with injury so far this campaign.
Tranmere are 23rd in the League Two table put are one point away from climbing out of the relegation places and have a game in hand on teams around them. They face Accrington Stanley on Saturday at Prenton Park.
