Leeds United lost their talismanic striker Chris Wood to Premier League Burnley this week.

The Kiwi was by far and away Leeds' best player last year, starring in their push for the play-offs with 30 goals in all competitions, and finishing as the Championship's top goalscorer.

It was therefore likely that Premier League sides would eye him up this summer, and after Andre Gray left Burnley to join Watford, it was no surprise to see the Clarets target the 25-year-old.

Wood joined Burnley this afternoon to become their record signing, after ruling himself out of Leeds' game against Sunderland over the weekend, as he pushed through his Premier League move.

The club now face a hefty task in trying to replace him, and face a busy two weeks before the transfer window closes.

Here are THREE strikers they could look at.....

Leigh Griffiths

With the amount of cash currently in their pocket following the sale of Wood, Leeds could launch an ambitious move for Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths.

The Scotland international plays second fiddle to star striker Moussa Dembele in Celtic's one-striker formation, and a move to Leeds would allow him first team football and a shot at the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has a ridiculous goal record in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic, having scored 66 goals in 96 appearances.

He is too good to be sitting on the bench.

Tomer Hemed

Again, it's ambitious, but Tomer Hemed could be the answer for Leeds in replacing Chris Wood.

With Brighton hoping to bring in two more strikers to add to their firepower this season, Hemed could drop steeply down the pecking order, and a decent offer from Leeds could force Chris Hughton's hand.

The Israeli's first season in the Championship showed the lethal touch in front of goal that Leeds will be needing, netting 17 goals in the league.

Ross McCormack

Leeds could easily turn back to Ross McCormack, who is yet to appear in the Aston Villa squad this season and has had a torrid time since joining the club a year ago.

Leeds offers familiar surroundings which could get him back on track.

McCormack scored 29 goals in his final season at Leeds but, like Wood, departed for big money to join Fulham the following summer.

Perhaps a return to Leeds could spark his career back into life.
