Celtic are no longer interested in West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper, with the Scottish champions instead pursuing a move for Motherwell's David Turnbull.

The Steelmen confirmed on their official site last night that they had accepted an offer from the Glasgow giants for their talented 19-year-old midfielder, who scored a very impressive 15 league goals last season.

Turnbull is now expected to finalise a move to Parkhead in the coming days and the Daily Mail have revealed that as a result of his prospective move, Celtic will not be pursuing a deal for Harper.

The Albion teenager had been linked with a move north of the border after a real breakthrough year in the Championship and with his contract expiring he was going to be available for a cut-price fee.

However, Neil Lennon's side will not be signing the player according to the report, which will be a boost for the Baggies who will still be keen on keeping the midfielder.

Slaven Bilic has been announced as the new boss at The Hawthorns and his arrival may change things for Harper.

The Verdict

Given the quality that Celtic already have in midfield it makes sense for them to only go for one of these players and it does seem as though the Turnbull deal is very advanced.

That's a shame for Harper as he would've been excited by the chance to join the club but he will still have other options on the table.

He will have a big decision to make and it will be interesting to see if Bilic's arrival can tempt him to stay as a move away had seemed inevitable.
