Celtic midfielder Regan Hendry is training with Norwich City and is close to agreeing a deal to join the Canaries, according to The Sun, as reported in the Pinkun.

The midfielder spent the latter half of last season on loan at Raith Rovers, but isn't in Brendan Rogers first team plans, which has opened up the opportunity with Daniel Farke's side.

Hendry, a product of the Celtic academy, made 13 appearances for Raith in the Scottish Division One as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

He was a regular starter as they finished just a point short of title winners Ayr United, but then lost their play-off against Championship club Alloa Athletic.

Hendry also made a goal scoring appearance for Celtic's U20 side last season as they lost 3-1 to Annan Athletic in the Scottish League Challenge Cup.

It is reported that Hendry, who has Scotland U20 honours to his name, would initially join up with the Canaries under-23 squad.

Norwich are cultivating a reputation for developing young players, with twin brothers Jacob and Josh Murphy both earning moves to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke's side started their league campaign on Saturday with a 2-2 draw away at Birmingham City.

The verdict

Whilst it is hard to ascertain for certain how good Regan Hendry might be, it can only be assumed that by coming through the ranks at Celtic Park, he has ample talent and ability.

Not only have the Murpht twins moved on, but Norwich have recruited and sold James Maddison, as well as currently developing Ben Godfrey.

They're not afraid to give youth a chance in Norfolk and it has paid rich dividends in recent years, both on the pitch and in the bank account.
