Lincoln City are interested in making a move to sign Celtic defender Jack Hendry on loan for the second half of the season, according to the Daily Record.

Lincoln are in need of adding to their defensive options this month, with Michael Appleton looking to improve his squad.

Hendry has found himself way down the pecking order at Parkhead this season, with the centre-back behind the likes of Christopher Jullien, Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic - so the 24-year-old is thought to be wanting a move away to get some regular minutes.

QUIZ: What club did each of these 16 Lincoln City players sign from?

Lincoln, though, could face competition from both League One rivals Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers for Hendry's signature this month, and Appleton will be hoping to convince him to make the move to Sincil Bank.

Successive wins have left the Imps six points from the play-offs, although they remain in the bottom half of League One.

The Verdict

Hendry is clearly out of favour at Celtic, with the defender making just one appearance since Neil Lennon took over from Brendan Rodgers on a permanent basis, which could mean a move away this month is the best option for both parties.

He has shown flashes of potential over the years, having impressed during his time at Dundee in the 2017/18 season, which convinced Celtic to sign him to bolster their defensive options in January 2018.

So, the Scotsman could be the sort of player Lincoln need to bring in this month, with the defender likely to be highly motivated to show his ability so he can earn a potential permanent move in the summer.
