Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker has held talks with Scottish giants Celtic over a potential transfer, according to The Mirror.

Caulker has been doing individual training in pre-season away from the rest of the squad who are enjoying their pre-season tour.

The central defender has had his personal problems in the last few years, suffering with serious addictions and depression but he now may have an opportunity to rebuild his career.

The opportunity comes from Brendan Rodgers, a man Caulker knows very well.

Rodgers and Caulker worked together at Swansea City back in the 2011-12 campaign where the defender was regarded as an extremely promising player.

A move would benefit both sides, with Queens Park Rangers ready to get the high earner off their wage bill and to do so they may have to negotiate at a lower price, which in turn will please Celtic.

The Scottish side are also in need of a centre-back to fill in for the injured Dedryck Boyata who could face up to three months on the sidelines.
