Celtic have joined the race for Wolverhampton Wanderers target Craig Dawson, according to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Sunday 6th May, 08:12].

Dawson, who is rated at £15m by West Bromwich Albion, is also wanted by Premier League duo West Ham United and Burnley.

The Baggies delayed their relegation by one more week after yet another remarkable round of results in the Premier League.

West Brom beat Tottenham Hotspur as Jake Livermore turned the ball in from close-range in the dying moments of stoppage time while Southampton and Swansea failed to win, keeping the West Midlands side's slim hopes of staying up alive.

But if they do drop, as expected, a number of players are likely to leave and this includes Dawson.

The former England under-21 international has been a major part of their recent revival.

Comfortable both at right-back and centre-back, the 28-year-old now has over 150 Premier League appearances to his name, scoring an impressive 12 goals in the time as he poses a major threat from set-pieces.

His versatility and experience appeals to Nuno, who is trying to snap him up to bolster Wolves' squad ahead of their Premier League campaign in 2018/19.

They face competition from West Ham and Europa League bound Burnley, as well as Scottish giants Celtic, in the race to land the former Rochdale defender.

The Verdict

Dawson has been a solid and dependable member of West Brom's squad for quite a few years now. His versatility perfectly suits Nuno's style of play and he would work well as the right-sided centre-half in Wolves' fluid back three formation. £15m is quite a steep price to pay for him, though, but in today's market, that is probably expected as the Baggies will want to keep him at the club.
