Celtic and Sheffield United are among the clubs who are looking to sign talented Wigan Athletic forward Kyle Joseph.

The 19-year-old has been one of the success stories for the Latics in what has been a very tough season, as he has broke into the XI and generally impressed.

After scoring the winner against Sunderland, Joseph hit a hat-trick at Burton Albion last time out, helping Wigan to a 4-3 win.

Such form has caught the eye of several higher-placed clubs, with reports suggesting that Rangers and Spurs were keen on the teenager, who is out of contract in the summer.

However, they won't have a straight run at the player, with reporter David Anderson revealing that the Scottish champions and Premier League strugglers are now taking an interest.

"Tottenham, Sheffield United, Rangers and Celtic all keen on Wigan’s Scotland Under-19 striker Kyle Joseph."

Given the situation with his Wigan deal, either of the Glasgow clubs could potentially agree a pre-contract with Joseph this month, whilst the English clubs would have to buy him outright, or wait until the summer.

The verdict

It's no surprise to see there is a lot of interest in Joseph, because he is a talented player with huge potential.

The fact his contract is up in the summer means that he is a bargain for these clubs, and they will believe he is someone who can improve significantly in the future.

Unfortunately for Wigan, an exit seems inevitable. However, Joseph needs to ensure he picks the right club for his development, so he has a big decision to make in the coming weeks.
