Celtic have joined the race for highly rated 18-year-old Ipswich Town defender Dylan Crowe, as per the Daily Mail.

An England Under 20 international, Crowe has yet to make a senior appearance for Ipswich despite impressing at youth level, and is out of contract at Portman Road in the summer.

The Sun's transfer blog (29/05, 12:24pm) recently reported that Huddersfield have had an offer of a £300,000 compensation fee for Crowe turned down by Ipswich.

Now it appears that The Terries, who were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, will have competition in the battle for Crowe's signature.

According to The Daily Mail, both Celtic and German side RB Leipzig are interested in the 18-year-old, who can also operate in a midfield role.

The report also claims that Ipswich are looking to hold out for a £500,000 compensation fee for Crowe, who has previously attracted interest from Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal.

The verdict

Already it is looking as though it will be a big task for Ipswich if they are to keep hold of Crowe beyond the summer.

A fee of £500,000 should not be too difficult for the likes of Celtic and Leipzig to come up with, and the chance to play for a club competing for silverware and in continental competitions, as both Celtic and Leipzig are, would be a difficult one for Crowe to turn down.
