Celtic are interested in a summer move for Matthew Sorinola, as per a report from Wales Online

A Football League World exclusive first revealed that Swansea City were after the 21-year-old, with Russell Martin seemingly keen on signing his former left-wing-back after the pair spent the 2020/21 campaign together at MK Dons.

A second Football League World exclusive found that Norwich City had joined the race for the exciting 21-year-old who is now playing his football in Belgium's top flight with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Appearing 14 times from the bench for the club who surprised the division last season, Sorinola was restricted to just 147 minutes of league football with the Belgian outfit.

It remains to be seen if any more interest will surface for the young defender who displayed glimpses of excellence whilst with MK Dons during the 2020/21 campaign.

The verdict

Celtic of course have the lure of European football, that certainly would work to their advantage but it would be no surprise if his first-team chances were slimmer with the Scottish giants.

At Swansea, he is likely to have a higher chance to break into the first-team set up upon arrival, with competition levels appearing to be not as fierce, whilst the Russell Martin factor could also play a part.

A wing-back who meets the modern-day demands of being an attacking threat and defensively competent, Sorinola represents an option for the here and now, whilst he has an incredibly high ceiling.

Sorinola would be an excellent addition at the Championship clubs and Celtic but he is not likely to come cheap with the young defender still possessing two years on his current deal with the Belgian club.
