Scottish champions Celtic are thought to be weighing up their options as they turn their attentions to Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson in the final week of the January transfer window.

The Daily Record is reporting that the Scottish side are interested in the 24-year-old, who has been in form for the Robins during the season so far with 10 league assists to his name.

Celtic aren't the only side who have been interested in the Swede, with Italian club Lazio and Spanish outfit Villarreal believing that they have a chance of landing the former Sweden under-21 international.

Premier League club Burnley have also been rumoured to be weighing up a move for the in-form winger as the transfer deadline gets closer day by day.

Eliasson's contract at Ashton Gate expires in the summer, with an option to extend for a further year, as manager Lee Johnson and Robins CEO Mark Ashton both want to see the winger stay with the club through to next season.

The winger has been a part of Bristol City since 2017, when he joined in the summer transfer window from Swedish side IFK Norrkoping.

The Verdict

Eliasson would suit the way that Celtic like to play with their attacking style, but it still comes as a slight shock that they have taken up interest in him.

The winger, however, currently seems happy at Ashton Gate, and with the Robins just a couple points outside of the playoff spots, Eliasson might want to stay with his current club to push the Robins into a playoff spot.
