Both Blackpool and Preston North End have been credited with interest in Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist this summer as per a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

He is out of contract with the Scottish club at the end of the month meaning he is due to become a free agent this summer.

With Blackpool's Chris Maxwell being linked with a move to Everton as well as Dan Grimshaw attracting interest, the Tangerines look to be in need of a new goalkeeper.

Meanwhile Preston are losing Daniel Iverson as he returns to parent club Leicester City this summer so are also looking for a new number one.

However according to the Daily Mail, it's not just each other they have to battle for Siegrist's signature this summer as Celtic are now interested in him too.

With the 30-year-old out of contract this summer he looks to have a big decision on his hands about his next step but the interest from the Scottish champions is bound to cause both Championship sides some worry as big competition for the player.

The Verdict:

Having another contender in for Siegrist's services this summer is not the news either Blackpool or Preston would've been hoping for as they try and land deals with the player.

Furthermore, the proximity of Celtic to where the goalkeeper is already based could prove to be a large factor in the 30-year-old's decision this summer.

However, it's unknown whether he would be looking at regular first team football with the Scottish champions whereas he would be the starting goalkeeper for either Championship side this summer.

Therefore, as he gets older and towards the latter stages of his career, this could be something he chooses to favour making a move to England favourable.
