Charlton Athletic are targeting a place at Wembley when they play the second leg of their play-off semi-final against Doncaster Rovers on Friday evening.
Lee Bowyer’s side are leading 2-1 after the first leg and are now strong favourites to book their place in the final when they face Rovers at The Valley.
The Addicks have enjoyed an impressive campaign in the third tier this season, with Bowyer making a strong impression on his first full season in management.
His side’s performances have attracted attention from a number of clubs, with certain members of the Charlton squad being lined up for moves away from London.
Joe Aribo is one of those who has attracted suitors following his excellent performances across the midfield, and it has now emerged that Celtic and Rangers are interested in his signature, according to Goal.
The 22-year-old has made 37 appearances under Bowyer this season, and has ended the season in rich vein of goalscoring form having bagged one in each of his last four games.
The report states that Aribo could be on the move when his contract expires in June regardless of whether Charlton achieve promotion to the Championship or not.
However, it appears the Old Firm rivals will also face competition for his services with Manchester City and Arsenal also interested, according to the Daily Mail.
Aribo’s performances have proven this season that he can make the cut at a bigger club.
He has shown great versatility in his performances for a side who eventually finished in third place in League One, which is a great achievement given the circumstances.
However, I think Aribo can reach his potential if he remains in English football. He would surely favour a move to City or Arsenal if either club came in.
