Celtic are interested in signing highly-rated forward Ronan Darcy from Bolton Wanderers this summer, according to a report by Football Insider.

The 18-year-old made his first-team debut for Bolton on the final day of the Championship season against Nottingham Forest and has been very impressive for their under-18 side in the FA Youth Cup this season.

The report states that Celtic have been keeping close tabs on the player and are looking to take advantage of Bolton's financial problems by signing him for a small compensation fee.

Chelsea are also reportedly impressed by the player and have made enquires about him, but a transfer ban means they will be unable to sign players for the next two windows.

Bolton were relegated from the Championship this season and will start next season in League One with a twelve-point deduction, after being placed into administration.

The Verdict:

Darcy is clearly a player with a lot of potential and could have a big future ahead of him.

I'm sure Bolton will be reluctant to lose one of their brightest young talents, but Celtic are a massive club and Darcy may find them too difficult to turn down.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this signing over the next few weeks.
