According to FLW sources, Celtic scouts were present at St Andrews to watch the 32-year-old midfielder in action against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Hoolahan started the game but was substituted in the 89th minute by former Celtic striker Gary Hooper, in a game which culminated in a 0-0 draw.

The attacking midfielder has been at the Canaries since 2008 and has accumulated over 200 appearances for the Championship club.

The Dublin-born midfielder has scored 32 goals during his time at the club, and it is his creativity that is attracting the interest of the SPL champions.

Hoolahan has been a relatively prominent figure in the Republic of Ireland national team, having accrued 17 appearances, scoring two goals.

The midfielder has had experience of plying his trade in Scotland, having spent one season at Livingstone in the 2006/07 season, and there he made 16 appearances but failed to score.

It is uncertain as to whether Norwich City boss Alex Neil will want to let one of the club's best players leave, but if an adequate fee was tabled a move could happen.

Neil spoke his mixed emotions after the draw against Birmingham City on Saturday, saying to BBC Sport: "It was a case of us dominating the ball for most of the game and them sitting in. I thought we were the better side.

"I thought we moved the ball through the zones while Birmingham were much more direct - albeit just as effective - but we were the dominant side. We just didn't have that cutting edge. I'm disappointed with the draw.

"As far as we're concerned, it was two points dropped. But I'm delighted with a first clean sheet."

The Canaries currently sit in eighth position in the Sky Bet Championship, having amassed 44 points from 28 league games, whilst Celtic  lie top of the Scottish Premier League.
