Swansea City could well be made to work harder in their pursiut of Aberdeen defender Scott Mckenna, with Celtic now reportedly interested in the centre half.

According to the Sun, the Scottish champions are monitoring McKenna with a view to bringing him to the club, a move which could well be a bitter blow to Championship side Swansea, who had been hoping to tempt the 21-year-old to Wales with a £4m bid.

Swansea are desperate for a replacement for defender Alfie Mawson who left the club this week to move back to the Premier League, and they had seen McKenna as the man they thought would come in and replace their key defensive ace.

However, with Celtic now entering the race, things could well take a bad twist for the Swans, who could be forced to look elsewhere if Brendan Rodgers gets his way north of the border.

McKenna has been a key man for Aberdeen in the last few seasons and saw his stock rise last term with an impressive campaign for the Dons.

Swansea have until Thursday this week to complete a deal, while there is less pressure on Celtic, who have until the end of the month to complete any signings they wish to make.
