MK Dons ace Matt O'Riley is closing in on his move to Celtic, having reportedly passed his medical this morning.

Celtic have won the race for the talented 21-year-old, with reports suggesting that the MK Dons star is costing as little as £1.5m this month.

As per Pete O'Rourke over on Twitter, O'Riley has now passed his Celtic medical and is due to complete his move to the Old Firm giants in the next 24 hours.

O'Riley has been shining for MK this season down in League One, scoring seven goals and registering a further five assists in only 26 games.

The midfielder's numbers have already surpassed what he did 12 months ago in the same division (three goals and two assists).

The former Fulham academy graduate's form has helped MK Dons to fifth in the League One table after 26 games.

Liam Manning's side have collected 46 points so far this season, which leaves them only five adrift of the automatic promotion places and six shy of leaders, Wycombe Wanderers.

A number of postponements up and down the division have given the table an obscure look, though, whilst the January transfer window is also leading to new emerging favourites in the race for promotion.

The Verdict

This is a blow for MK Dons to be losing a player like O'Riley, who has been such a consistent source of goals and creativity this season in League One.

Celtic are getting him for a bargain price and things are really starting to align now as the transfer window approaches its final 10 days.

O'Riley looks like he will be a Celtic player in the next couple of days, contributing to a fresh twist in the race for the play-offs in League One.
