Bristol City are reportedly doing everything they can to keep hold of Celtic and Rangers target, Tomas Kalas according to The Scottish Sun.

Kalas is currently on loan at Ashton Gate until the end of the season and is set to return to Chelsea when his contract with the Robins expires in the summer.

This has seen Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers emerge as some of the favourites to submit a formal offer for the Czech international.

But the Robins are believed to be wanting to keep him at the club further than when his loan spell expires at the end of this season.

Bristol City are in contention to finish inside the top six and will be hoping that they can do just that as they target a shock promotion bid.

Lee Johnson's side are currently just a single point outside of the play-off places heading into the final ten games of this season.

There's no doubt that the persuasion of playing Premier League football could be enough to sway any potential deal for Kalas into Bristol City's favour.

But the central defender will be doing everything he can to impress and keep the Robins in the hunt for promotion to the top flight.

This won't be the last we hear of this rumour, and it could prove to be a long-running transfer saga involving the Chelsea man.

The Verdict:

Bristol City have to be the favourites to sign him.

Kalas has really impressed me in his time with the club and I can see him playing a crucial role in their future for years to come.

If they are to win promotion this season, then surely they will be favourites to sign the Czech international ahead of Celtic and Rangers.
