Championship play-off hopefuls Bristol City will face competition from Celtic and Fulham to sign Iran defender Milad Mohammadi, according to a report by Football Insider.

They state that the Robins have identified the left-back as potential replacement for the in-demand Lloyd Kelly, but are likely to face competition for him.

The 25-year-old currently plays for Russian Premier League side Akhmat Grozny, but is out of contract at the end of this season and will be available on a free transfer in the summer.

Mohammadi has made 26 appearances for Akhmat Grozny in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist for his teammates.

Celtic are looking to strengthen their squad in the transfer market this summer, while Fulham are expected to make significant changes following their relegation from the Premier League.

Bristol City are currently eighth in the Championship table, just two points outside the play-off places and face Hull City on the final day of the season at the weekend.

The Robins need to win at the KCOM Stadium and hope that play-off rivals Derby County and Middlesbrough both lose in order to finish in the top six.

The Verdict:

Mohammadi is an experienced defender and could be a good signing for Bristol City, especially if the Robins can secure his services on a free transfer.

Lee Johnson will look to considerably strengthen his squad this summer, whether the team win promotion or not, although they will face competition from Celtic and Fulham for Mohammadi, so might find it difficult to sign him.

The lure of European football may give the Glasgow giants the edge but he won't be first choice at Parkhead with Kieran Tierney around so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
