Sheffield Wednesday are certainly on an upward curve following the arrival of Steve Bruce as manager and though a play-off place will likely be just beyond them this campaign, Owls fans will be pleased with what they are seeing.

The summer, we are likely to see a major overhaul of the current Wednesday squad as Bruce looks to stamp his mark on the side, in the hope that Wednesday can be real contenders next season.

So how should Sheffield Wednesday fans be feeling heading into the 2019/20 season?

We discuss........

George Brooks

"In a word, optimistic.

"Steve Bruce has done a brilliant job since taking charge at Hillsborough in February and with him in charge, fans have reason to be confident of the team's chances of success next season.

"He is a very experienced manager and knows exactly what it takes to win promotion at this level.

"The Owls boss now has an opportunity to put his own stamp on the squad in the transfer market and has plenty of big decisions to make in the summer."

George Dagless

"Cautiously optimistic.

"The Owls have shown some good form and good signs under Steve Bruce so they will feel brighter days are on the way.

"Bruce knows how to get teams challenging at the right end of the division and that will be the hope he can do that again."

Alfie Burns

“There should be real optimism at Hillsborough.

“Bruce has done an outstanding job since arriving in South Yorkshire and it is exciting to see where he could take the side with a full summer behind him.

“It’s a big summer, but if Wednesday get it right, they’ll be onto something good.”

Gary Hutchinson

“More optimistic than twelve months before.

“I’m not sure Steve Bruce is the right man for the job.

“I’m not sure they’re going to challenge the top six.

“What I do know is they’re in better shape than under Jos Luhukay.”
