Middlesbrough have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz on loan.

According to Football Insider, the 21-year-old is set to have the final part of his medical at the Championship club today.

But would he be a good signing for Boro? And do they need him?

Muniz could prove to be a decent addition to Middlesbrough's squad as he did demonstrate glimpses of promise in the Championship last season.

Despite being utilised predominantly as a substitute by Fulham, the forward still managed to find the back of the net on five occasions at this level.

By adapting quickly to Middlesbrough's system, Muniz could potentially go on to make a positive impact for the club as they aim to launch a push for a top-six finish.

The forward's arrival could also potentially force Chuba Akpom and Duncan Watmore to step up their performance levels in the second tier.

This is a good bit of business from Middlesbrough.

He's still young and developing but Rodrigo Muniz showed enough as cover for Aleksandar Mitrovic last season to suggest that a regular run in the Boro team could see him flourish.

Chris Wilder has already signed Matthew Hoppe and Marcus Forss while Chuba Akpom has battled his way back into contention and Duncan Watmore can add pace up top but, importantly, the manager still wants more forward firepower.

Muniz would provide that and will arrive in the North East with a point to prove.

Boro could be the beneficiaries of that.

This to me looks like it has the potential to be a very good signing, with Middlesbrough needing to add attacking reinforcements this summer.

Should the rest of the move run smoothly, Muniz is someone who will bring a lot of desirable attributes to the Riverside Stadium.
Netting five Championship goals in under 500 minutes last time out, the 21-year-old has displayed an excellent ability to score goals in the division, whilst he worked relentlessly off the ball when given game time.
He can also vary his attacking play. Someone who can hold the ball up and bring others into play, Muniz can also spin in behind and cause chaos off the shoulder of the last defender.
Given the service one would expect him to be provided with when playing in a side with the likes of Isaiah Jones, Ryan Giles, and Riley McGree, Muniz could enjoy a very productive loan stint with the Teessiders.
