Every year teams throughout the whole of the Football League take advantage of the loan system, both bringing players in and letting them go on a temporary basis.

At Sheffield Wednesday, they are already taking advantage of the loan system with Will Buckley in on loan from Premier League side Sunderland, whereas Darryl Lachman is spending some time out on loan in the Netherlands.

Manager Carlos Carvalhal could be looking to make use of the fast approaching January window where he may let some of his more fringe players leave the club temporarily.

It is also an opportunity for some of the more youthful players to gain some invaluable experience of playing in the professional game.

Over the following pages, FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe will identify TWO Sheffield Wednesday players who should leave the club on loan in January...

Cameron Dawson

Unfortunately for young goalkeeper Cameron Dawson, he has pretty fierce competition when it comes to his colleagues.

With Kieran Westwood, Sheffield Wednesday have one of the best goalkeepers in the Football League and back-up Joe Wildsmith has also impressed on occasion.

At 21 years of age, Cameron Dawson is in desperate need of some experience playing professional football as he has made just 1 appearance in the Football League during a stint at Wycombe.

League Two could be his destination, and he will be hoping that he can find some first-team action to really kickstart his career.

Lewis McGugan

At the other end of the age spectrum, Wednesday have a very experienced figure in the form of Lewis McGugan who is struggling to get game time at Hillsborough.

The 27-year-old joined the Owls from Watford firstly on a loan deal but then permanently in 2015.

But as the seasons have progressed, he has found himself getting less and less game time.

Last season he made just 5 starts for the Owls but he hasn't even appeared off of the bench so far this campaign.

McGugan has played almost 250 Championship games in his time and he could arguably walk into numerous other Championship sides.

Sending the former Nottingham Forest man out on loan could do him the world of good and I'm sure that it would benefit both parties as well.
