Sam Hutchinson is set for his first Sheffield Wednesday start since early August, with Carlos Carvalhal confirming the midfielder will be part of his starting XI this weekend against Middlesbrough, reports the Sheffield Star’s, Dom Howson.

Injuries have plagued Hutchinson’s season so far, with his last start in the Championship coming way back on August 12th, when he managed to complete just 13 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers.

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Hutchinson returned as a substitute against Bolton Wanderers in October, but injuries once again played a part, with the 28-year-old out of action for over two months.

However, Carvalhal has confirmed that Hutchinson will return to his starting XI this weekend, as Sheffield Wednesday go in search of three points against Middlesbrough at Hillsborough.

Hutchinson will be returning to a side struggling to make an impact in the race for the top-six, with Wednesday currently sat 15th and on a six-match winless streak, which has seriously dented the club’s play-off ambitions.

Carvalhal’s side have suffered back-to-back defeats over the last two weeks, losing to both Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Verdict

Hutchinson’s return will be a big boost for Sheffield Wednesday, as they have missed the midfielder’s presence during his absence.

The 28-year-old is a simple player, but is so effective with what he does and there are no doubts that Wednesday are better with him in the starting XI.

Carvalhal will be hoping Hutchinson’s return can inspire his side the three points against Boro, with pressure beginning to show at Hillsborough.
