Sheffield Wednesday take on Wolves tonight and Sky Sports’ EFL pundit David Prutton thinks the league leaders will pile on the misery for Carlos Carvalhal.

There has been constant speculation leading up to the game that a defeat will spell the end for the Portuguese manager and writing in his regular Sky Sports column, Prutton thinks Wolves will take all three points.

The former Wednesday midfielder went for a 2-1 success for the visitors with Diogo Jota to open the scoring. Jota has nine goals to his name this season although he hasn’t scored in his previous two games.

Despite Prutton’s confidence in Wolves, they will be missing one key player, with Barry Douglas ruled out after suffering a slight injury in the 0-0 draw against Sunderland last week. Ruben Vinagre is expected to take his place at left wing-back.

Unfortunately for Carvalhal, the visitors boast the best away record in the lead, with seven wins from their ten games.

As well as that, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men can set a club record tonight if they win without conceding as it would be the fourth consecutive time they’ve done that on the road, something that has never been achieved before at the club.

The Verdict

It’s hard to look past a Wolves win when you take the form of each side into consideration. Wednesday are without a win in five whilst Wolves are unbeaten in seven.

The mood around Hillsborough will also be negative, which is understandable given the situation however it’s something Wolves can exploit.

With so much at stake for their manager, Wednesday will have to put in a massive performance and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
