Speaking to The Star, Carlos Carvalhal has delivered his verdict on where he thinks the blame might lie for the Owls' recent form, and it is not at his door.

The men from Hillsborough looked to be ready to turn a corner with their win over Leeds - after losing to Birmingham City and Sheffield United - but they lost to Bolton last time out in a very poor display.

For sure, then, the Owls have work to do to get into that top six and some fans are growing increasingly restless at having the Portuguese in charge.

Whilst we wait to see whether or not he can see through this rough patch, though, it seems as though he has grown tired of recent decisions made by match officials, with him feeling as though four points have been lost due to them.

Indeed, he explained:

“I’m not complaining; I’m dealing with facts.

“We have had three bad decisions in three games in a row. These decisions create an impact on the points and position we have in the table.

“We scored a clear goal at Birmingham and could have won 1-0. We would probably have won the game.

“With three at Birmingham and a minimum of one at Bolton, we would have four more points and would be near the play-off positions. It is the difference between us having 16 and 20 points. It makes a massive difference."

Certainly, four points extra would have the Owls much nearer the top six race and it is a point that some fans might feel is good enough to let him carry on as manager.

They'll be looking for him to still turn results around, though, whilst there'll also be hope that the decisions even out over the course of the campaign.
