Speaking to Sheffield Wednesday’s official website, Carlos Carvalhal has admitted his side are in a strong position in their play-off semi-final against Huddersfield Town, and is expecting the club’s supporters to make the difference in the second-leg.

Despite Huddersfield enjoying large spells of possession and creating the better chances, Wednesday held their Yorkshire rivals to a goalless draw, putting them in a commanding position heading back to Hillsborough for the second-leg.

Carvalhal led the Owls to the play-off final 12-months ago, and oversaw an exceptional semi-final victory over Brighton and Hove Albion to reach Wembley.

The 51-year old has called on Wednesday’s supporters to make the difference on Wednesday night, just as they did last year, he said: “The crowd in semi finals make a big impact, we have experience of this last season.

“We know how much our supporters helped us to beat Brighton.”

Despite the 0-0 result suiting Wednesday more than Huddersfield, David Wagner’s side are still in the tie ahead of the second-leg.

However, Carvalhal will be confident Wednesday can pick up another victory over Huddersfield to add to the two they recorded during the regular season, which included a 2-0 triumph at Hillsborough back in January.
