Ipswich Town fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Charlton Athletic yesterday evening, with the Tractor Boys now nine points below the play-off positions.

The Suffolk club, who were under the watchful eye of caretaker manager John McGreal, parted company with Paul Cook earlier in the week.

Jayden Stockley opened the scoring for the hosts when he fired home a rebound after Christian Walton denied Conor Washington from a tight angle.

The Addicks had several opportunities to double the lead as the game wore on, in what was a dominant display from the hosts.

It was eventually Alex Gilbey who sealed the points for Charlton when he took on possession before bursting into the area and slotting past Walton in the Ipswich goal.

One of Ipswich's better performers, if not their best, was George Edmundson.

The 24-year-old managed to win the majority of his aerial battles and possessed composure when bringing the ball out from the back.

Edmundson has been a consistent player in Ipswich's backline this season, and despite the defeat, fans seemed to be impressed with his display and professionalism against Charlton.

Here, we take a look at how Ipswich fans have reacted on Twitter to Edmundson's performance last night...
