With all Sheffield Wednesday eyes now turning to recruitment, it is set to be a big summer at Hillsborough.
Missing out on promotion with defeat in the semi-finals of the play-offs, to eventual winner Sunderland, expectation levels will naturally be high once more around the Yorkshire club.
With transfer rumours starting to pick up pace, there appears to be a lot of uncertainty as to who Darren Moore will have as forward options when the new season begins at the end of July.
Addressing the forward line and what Wednesday need this summer, Carlton Palmer told Football League World: “Sometimes you need to take that gamble and say right, we need to get three strikers in who are gonna get 20goals.
“You’ve got Gregory, you need to bring in two more who are gonna get 20 goals.
“Now, Windass, I believe will be staying, he’s got a year with another option. If Windass is fit, you’ve got 15 to 20 goals in Windass.
“But Windass can always play out wide as well.
Quiz: 23 things literally every Sheffield Wednesday fan should know – But do you?
“So Wednesday will be still looking to bring in two strikers for sure.”
Lee Gregory is set to be an important figure at Sheffield Wednesday next season, should the Owls be able to retain his services, whilst Josh Windass is likely to be equally important.
As Palmer says those are two forwards who if kept fit can strive towards scoring 20 goals apiece next season.
There have also been links with the likes of Michael Smith and Jayden Stockley, with the pair also in that same bracket of generating an expectation of nearing 20 goals in the league.
If they are able to add one of the aforementioned names, then they will have every chance of possessing the goals in the squad to challenge for automatic promotion.
