Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan has confirmed that Tom Lees will have a scan after suffering a head injury in yesterday’s clash with Blackpool.

Lees had to be stretchered off during the first-half of this fixture following a collision with Gary Madine.

After the defender’s substitution, Huddersfield managed to produce a spirited comeback at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Blackpool opened the scoring in the first minute of the fixture via a strike from Jerry Yates.

Huddersfield then netted an equaliser as Danny Ward headed home from Harry Toffolo’s cross.

The Seasiders regained the lead in the 18th minute as Madine scored his third goal of the season.

Following the break, Sorba Thomas sealed all three points for Huddersfield by scoring a quick-fire brace in the closing stages of the clash.

As a result of this victory, the Terriers climbed into the play-off places in the Championship standings.

Making reference to Lees’ issue, Corberan has confirmed that the defender is set to have a scan on his head injury.

Speaking to BBC West Yorkshire Sport Daily about Lees, the Huddersfield boss said: “He had a concussion and that’s why he couldn’t continue the game.

“Now we want to follow the medical advice, the medical protocol.

“He will now have a scan but the message from the doctors is positive even though we are going to miss him in the next games because we need to follow the normal protocol in these types of injuries.”

The Verdict

With Lees set to miss the club’s upcoming clash with Nottingham Forest due to the fact that Huddersfield will have to follow the concussion protocol, it will be intriguing to see how the club will fare in his absence.

A key player for the Terriers, the defender has made 21 appearances for the club in all competitions and will be keen to make a swift recovery from his issue.

Corberan may need to turn to Ollie Turton for inspiration at the City Ground on Thursday.

Turton was brought on as a replacement for Lees yesterday and has already featured in a centre-back role for the club in the Championship this season.
