West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has admitted to enjoying his time at The Hawthorns so far after insisting the World Cup break came at the perfect time for his players.

Corberan was appointed following the sacking of Steve Bruce last month and after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United in his first game in charge - he has overseen a three-game winning run that has lifted Albion out of the Championship relegation zone.
In that time, the Baggies have also kept three clean sheets in a row and went into the international break in their most consistent form since early last season. Now, Corberan has time to work with his players as a result of the extended break and has admitted it came at an ideal time for him and his players. He told the Express and Star: "This break is a great opportunity because when you don’t do a pre-season with the squad, it is a perfect moment to work with the players. “To now have this period of time is fantastic because we can use it in the same way as a pre-season. It’s even better because you don’t have the same physical demands that pre-season has where the players have a longer period of break beforehand." Corberan also opened up on his feelings about the role and taking the job, suggesting it's not been a bad experience so far, as he added: “It has been fantastic to spend time here, at this amazing club, and I am enjoying every single day. “For me, it was a great opportunity to come here and I have tried to give my best. When you are at a big club, with big supporters, a big stadium and big players, everything is positive." West Brom are currently at their warm weather training camp in Costa Blanca as they look to maximise their time together during the extended break. They will take on Sunderland in their first game back after the World Cup, with Corberan hoping he can steer the club further up the table.

The Verdict

It's been a positive few weeks for West Brom. The break came at the right time, not only for the purpose of spending time with the players, but also giving the supporters a healthy distraction.

They will go into the game in a couple of weeks without the stress of the tumultuous Steve Bruce period that frustrated many supporters.

It has given everyone a fresh start which will no doubt help the team push higher up the table, and his influence on that, means that Corberan's stock value will only continue to rise.
