Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan has revealed that Matty Pearson has returned to training after suffering a stomach virus at the weekend and will be available to feature in the club's clash with Birmingham City tomorrow.

Pearson had to be substituted in the 71st minute of his side's clash with Hull City as a result of this issue as the Terriers clinched a 2-0 victory over Grant McCann's side at the John Smith's Stadium.

Whilst Pearson will be available for Tuesday's showdown with the Blues, Alex Vallejo has suffered a minor setback in his road to recovery from injury.

The Spaniard is now not set to make his return to action for another two weeks due to an issue with his knee.

Huddersfield will be brimming with confidence heading into their meeting with Birmingham after picking up seven points from their last three games.

Currently sixth in the Championship standings, the Terriers will be determined to push on under the guidance of Corberan in the coming months.

Ahead of tomorrow's game, Corberan has shared an update on Pearson and Vallejo.

Speaking to Examiner Live about this duo, the 38-year-old said: "Matty Pearson went off with a stomach virus but he's been back in training and he's fine.

"Alex Vallejo has taken half a step back.

"The reaction of his knee was not what we hoped so the medical staff have changed their treatment plan and we think he should be back in around two weeks.

"I have no doubt how important he can be in the team but unfortunately he's picked up that injury.

"Always a football player you need to be ready to adapt to these situations."

The Verdict

Corberan will be delighted that he will be able to call upon the services of Pearson tomorrow as the 28-year-old has shown some real signs of promise at this level during the current campaign.

As well as scoring three goals for his side in the Championship, the former Luton Town man is currently averaging a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.81 at this level.

By producing another assured display against Birmingham, Pearson could help his side seal all three points in-front of their supporters on Wednesday.

As for Vallejo, Corberan may find it beneficial to ease the midfielder back into action when he is fit enough to feature for Huddersfield.
