Huddersfield Town will be able to call on both Jonathan Hogg and Pipa over the Easter weekend, Carlos Corberan has confirmed.

Corberan oversaw a 2-0 win over Luton Town on Monday night, as Huddersfield started to tighten their grip on a place in the play-offs.

Hogg was superb stepping into a three man defence, whilst Pipa produced what's been described as his best performance of the season on the right after a complicated return from a long-term groin injury.

Heading into a demanding Easter schedule that pitches Town up against QPR and Middlesbrough within the space of days, you could forgive Corberan for having doubts about how the pair might handle the turnaround.

Hogg, for example, missed the defeat to Bournemouth with a knee injury that he carried into the international break. He was then absent in the win at Hull with illness.

“Hoggy has always been an important player and a key player for us, he was only not involved in the team when he was injured," Corberan explained yesterday.

“I’m watching him look well, so I’m full of confidence that he can complete the games. Let’s see how the games impact the players because sometimes what we see (in training) isn’t what’s happening."

Pipa's situation is different in that Monday was only his third start of the season, with his comeback trail from a long-term groin issue complicated.

“The fact that he wasn’t playing was because of his long-term injury," Corberan told yesterday's press conference, detailing the full-back's road to recovery.

“Sometimes when the player arrives back from an injury they have consequences of those injuries, but he’s been working really well since the last international break.

“He’s working around game situations. Sometimes when we are preparing for a game, recovering, preparing, if we want to compensate the players that aren’t playing minutes, sometimes it is difficult to do in training situations."

Yet, the 24-year-old is in a good place heading into Easter.

“Pipa is really well and ready to compete," Corberan revealed. "Depending how he’s performed and adapted in performances, and depending how players that can play the same position are too, we will make a decision.”
