Sheffield Wednesday are well placed to make another promotion bid this season, as they look to bounce straight back from last season's Play-Off final defeat to Hull City.

Carvalhal's men took everyone by surprise last season in getting into the Play-Offs but they ultimately fell at the final hurdle.

However, they are now a stronger squad than last season and their push for promotion looks to be gathering momentum, with two wins out of their last three games.

The Owls recruited well in the summer, bringing in Steven Fletcher to add some fire power up front and David Jones, who added some Championship promotion experience.

Wednesday also managed to keep hold of star performer Fernando Forestieri, which was a huge positive and shows how far the club have come in recent years.

In years gone by, Wednesday would've sold their best players to a Premier League side or a more successful Championship team.

In the Wednesday side, there are definitely some players who are under performing.

Here, FLW's Chris Wilson will look at TWO players who Carvalhal needs more from.....

Steven Fletcher

There was an impetus on Fletcher to score goals for Sheffield Wednesday when he arrived from Sunderland in the summer.

So far he hasn't scored as many as Carvalhal would've liked him to and he needs to step up to the mark.

In the absence of Gary Hooper through injury, The Owls are looking for someone to step in and score goals like Hooper did.

There is no doubting that Fletcher can score goals, but so far, he hasn't really showed it.

Wednesday cant afford to slip up over Christmas without Hooper or they will slip outside of the Play-Offs, and then it is difficult to recover.

They need Fletcher to score the goals to keep them there.

David Jones

When Jones arrived at Hillsborough, Wednesday fans expected that he would slot seamlessly into the midfield and have a huge impact on the team.

However, it hasn't really worked out for Jones yet, he hasn't had regular football because of his performances levels.

Jones provides The Owls with Championship knowhow and promotion experience which could prove invaluable for them.

He also possesses a vast amount of quality from set pieces, which could be an avenue for goals for Wednesday if he plays.

He is often quite ponderous in possession and this is why Carvalhal hasn't been playing him as he likes fast flowing football.
