Carlos Carvalhal gives updates ahead of key Norwich City match

Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account, Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal is hoping his side can bounce back from a disappointing week when they face Norwich City this weekend.

Following four consecutive victories last month, February ended on a sour note for Wednesday, with back-to-back defeats against Brentford and Leeds United.

Carvalhal’s side remain sixth in the Sky Bet Championship table, but are now just five-points clear of Fulham and six ahead of Saturday’s opponents Norwich.

Despite two defeats, which has left the Owls looking over their shoulders, Carvalhal encouraged Wednesday to only focus on themselves, he said: “The important thing is that we look at ourselves, to play better and better and improve our football, respecting Norwich.

“We have had a good week to prepare, we are playing at home and will need the help of everybody at Hillsborough.

“We are achieving points but we know we can do better. I am very optimistic about the game on Saturday.”

As Wednesday aim to get back to winning ways, Carvalhal had mixed news on team selection, confirming that defender Tom Lees would once again be missing, but there was a chance Gary Hooper would be able to play some part.

Victory against the Canaries on Saturday would move the Owls nine-points clear of Alex Neil’s side, effectively ruling them out of making the top-six.
