Speaking to the club’s official website, Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has refused to rule Tom Lees or Fernando Forestieri out of Friday’s clash with Reading, as the race for the Play-Offs gathers pace.

Wednesday are looking to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, when they welcome Reading to Hillsborough.

Carvalhal’s side face a difficult task of picking up three-points this weekend when they face Reading, who sit fifth in the Sky Bet Championship table, one place and two-points better off than Wednesday.

Wednesday’s form has dipped in recent weeks, recording just one win in their last five league fixtures, which has not been helped by the absence of defender Lees, who has not featured since January’s draw with Bristol City.

Forestieri also missed Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Villa, but Carvalhal is hoping both players could be available for this weekend, he told swfc.co.uk: “Tom Lees started training with the team last Friday, he didn’t feel any reaction so we will do normal training during the week and let’s see if he is available to us.

“Fernando felt a pain on the knee, he wasn’t available to play last game. We will see if he can recover or not to Friday.”

Carvalhal will be hoping the pair return to fitness soon, as Fulham close in on the top-six.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side are seventh and just one-point behind Wednesday, with Carvalhal’s side knowing anything less that three-points on Friday would open the door for Fulham to overtake them.
