Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has urged his side to bounce back from their recent setbacks and get their bid for promotion back on track, reports the Sheffield Star.

February started well for the Owls, as they recorded four wins from four games, but have suffered a recent slump in form, losing back-to-back fixtures against Brentford and promotion rivals Leeds.

Two consecutive defeats saw Carvalhal’s side remain sixth in the Sky Bet Championship table, but now trailing the automatic promotion places by 12-points.

More worryingly for Wednesday fans, will be the teams looking to break into the top-six, with Fulham just five-points behind the Owls, with a game in hand.

Carvalhal has issued a message to everyone associated with the Owls, he told the Sheffield Star: “When we play at home, that doesn’t guarantee we will win every game but it makes us more strong. To be more strong, we need the support of everyone. It is a crucial moment in the season.

“Everybody wants the same from the players to the fans. Let’s be together and finish with the negatives. Let’s put everyone together and try to push everyone up. Let’s be positive to achieve something.”

Carvalhal’s side face Play-Off chasing Norwich City in their next fixture, and with the Canaries just six-points behind Wednesday, it is a great opportunity for the Yorkshire side to put some distance between themselves and their rivals.
