Carlos Carvalhal is adamant that he is feeling no added pressure going into tomorrow night's crucial Championship encounter against leaders Wolves.

Reports emerged in the week suggesting that the Wednesday boss must beat Wanderers or he would face the sack given the poor start to the season that the Owls have had.

However, the Portuguese manager insisted it's business as usual for him when speaking to the Sheffield Star. "I'm all the time with the same pressure and I try to prepare my team, improve them and focus on winning the next game. That is the natural pressure that I feel and I put on myself."

I’m trying to do my best to help Sheffield Wednesday win. This is the pressure I put on myself. I don’t feel more pressure as a coach.”

Defeat at Norwich City last time out has left the Yorkshire club in 14th position and a massive ten points away from the play-offs. Having made the top six in the two previous seasons, many had expected another promotion push that just hasn't materialised.

Wolves travel to Hillsborough boasting a seven game unbeaten run and have only lost on one of their last 16 visits to the famous ground.

The Verdict

The Owls boss obviously is feeling the pressure but you can't expect him to say that as it will make things harder for his players.

Given the situation, including his touchline ban, Carvalhal handled the questions well but it's all going to come down to the result on Friday night.

Wednesday are a long way from the top six and it isn't acceptable, so Carvalhal can have no complaints if a defeat tomorrow is his last in charge of the club.
