Chris Beech will need to recruit with care as he looks to replace Aaron Hayden, who this week was sold to Wrexham AFC.

Beech currently has three centre backs he can call upon but is keen to add one more who can play the position naturally as he told the News & Star: "We’ve got three centre-halves. It would be great to have another one before deadline day passes."

With 19 days to go until the transfer market slams shut, Carlisle are expected to go in search of a replacement centre back. With just under three weeks to make waves in the market and bolster his squad Beech was keen to add that any signing would need to be well suited to his current crop of players telling the News & Star: "They’ve got to fit us, they’ve got to be the right people.

The Carlisle boss has not hidden the fact since he arrived at the club back in late 2019 there has been a large turnover of players and as well as staff members but these changes have been done in order to make the side compete with those teams around them.

The Verdict:

Given the rigours of the long and demanding season ahead it would seem vital that Carlisle do dip their toes back into the transfer market. Of course, as has been stated by the boss the player coming in must fit the mould that he has already shaped at the club.

The trouble is how many of these types of players are ready and available at the right price for the club. Even if it takes until deadline day patience must be used in order to recruit the central defender they are in search of.
