A Football League quintet of clubs are all showing signs of interest in Southport defender David Fitzpatrick according to Sky Sports.

The 24-year old defender has impressed during his stay at the non-league side and his performances have caught the eyes of many a Football League scout.

The left-back played an integral part of the squad and helped them retain their Conference Premier status. His performances throughout the season were rewarded with an England C call up.

The defender is currently entering his final year of his contract and it is thought that Southport will be looking to sell him this summer rather than loosing him for nothing this summer.

A quintet of League Two sides are monitoring the defenders situation.The five teams chasing the 24-year old include - Carlisle United, Oxford United, AFC Wimbledon, Luton Town and Newport County.

It is thought that they are to enquire over the possibility over a transfer and Fitzpatrick may feature for the mentioned teams on a trial basis but it is thought that he will leave Haig Avenue next season.
