Port Vale manager Micky Adams has confirmed that defender Carl Dickinson will be club captain for the upcoming season.
The defender who joined Vale last season, signed a two-year deal earlier this summer and has become a fan favourite. Tom Pope has been awarded the role as vice-captain.
“There was a few contenders for the decision and I had to think long and hard about it,” said Adams, speaking to the club’s website.
“However, I‘ve given it to Carl not only because of his attitude to the games, but also because of the way he conducts himself in and around the place and what he does on the training pitch.”
Port Vale begin their League One campaign at home to Walsall.
