Huddersfield Town continue to find their feet under the management of Carlos Corberan.

Corberan has taken his first steps into management at the John Smith's Stadium and is learning on the job in the viciously competitive Championship.

That's on the back of a tough summer, where he lost last season's top goalscorer and never truly replaced him like-for-like.

However, one man he did manage to get his hands on was highly-rated Ajax midfielder, Carel Eiting.

The midfielder is the latest feature of FLW's The Hat-Trick series...

How's it gone so far?

Eiting's start to life in West Yorkshire has mirrored how Huddersfield have done so far this season: in flashes they been very good, but at other times they are short of the level required.

The 22-year-old midfielder made his fifth start for Huddersfield on Saturday against Luton Town, with Corberan turning to him in a midfield three and tasking him with pushing forward to support Fraizer Campbell, Adama Diakhaby and Josh Koroma.

And, he did that excellently, scoring the game's equaliser with a fine header on the hour, securing Huddersfield a 1-1 draw against the Hatters.

Post-match, Corberan praised the performance of Eiting as more of a 'No.10', stating that it's not the Dutchman's preferred position.

What issues does he face?

One thing that stands out looking at Eiting is that his physique isn't exactly suited to the Championship. When Corberan's side come up against the Prestons of the division, he's been tempted for a little bit more robust options in his midfield rather than the delicate touch of Eiting.

Standing up to that physical demand of some Championship midfields is going to be a task for Eiting, but also convincing against two players he's competing with for a position in the midfield.

Jonathan Hogg is thriving at the base of midfield, whilst the box-to-box nature of Lewis O'Brien's game means he's a player Corberan will regularly turn to now he's regained fitness.

That does leave Eiting competing with Alex Pritchard and Juninho Bacuna for a starting berth in midfield.

Pritchard is a player we know can cut it in the Championship and Corberan was happy with his performances before an ankle injury. Bacuna is another that can be so effective at this level, he scored six goals and registered five assists last season and already has a contribution tally of four this campaign.

The place in the side Eiting is competing for is competitive.

What's next?

That leads us nicely into our third section.

It's down to Eiting to build on his performance against Luton. The opening 30 minutes weren't quite good enough, but the next hour was probably the best we've seen of the Ajax loanee.

He scored a wonderful goal and he's got to build on that. One thing Bacuna, in particular, brings to this side is a regular threat in terms of goals and if Eiting is to keep him out of the side, he's going to have to be contributing in the final third.

Huddersfield are still finding their feet under Corberan and the summer transfer window probably left them short of goals. It's important that too much pressure isn't place on the likes of Fraizer Campbell in the goalscoring department.

Eiting needs to demonstrate he can ease that burden.
