Cardiff City will be planning for life in the Premier League after a remarkable season that saw the Welsh side take the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship.

Boss Neil Warnock deserves huge credit for creating a squad from a fairly limited budget that was too much for most of the second tier.

Now though, attention will be on bringing in players to help their survival bid.

The experienced manager has worked in the top-flight before so he will know exactly what he needs to add to his team and will already be working on potential deals.

Here we look at three players that could seriously help the Welsh side stay up next season as they aim for a longer spell in the Premier League than the last time they were promoted...

Cardiff are lacking Premier League experience and could also do with one more centre-back in the squad so Stoke City's Shawcross fits the bill.

He may be reluctant to leave the Potters given his history at the club but at 30-years old he may not have long left as a Premier League player so could jump at the chance to move.

A key area that needs strengthening for the Bluebirds is the middle of midfield and Besic could be the perfect player for Warnock.

He is a very competitive player and would bring energy and legs to the Cardiff side.

He will be available in the summer from Everton after a spell at Boro towards the end of the season.

Scoring goals is going to be a problem for Cardiff and whilst Rondon is not the most natural finisher he has a lot of clear qualities that Warnock will back himself to get the best out of.

Quick, powerful and good in the air, he will suit the Bluebirds direct style and could be the man to keep them up if the manager can get him firing.

Another who will be easily available after West Brom were relegated.
