Neil Warnock has a tough task ahead of him as he aims to bring this squad up to the level of the Premier League.

The Bluebirds had a phenomenal season as they managed to finish second behind Wolves, although they had to wait until the last day with Fulham failing to take advantage of the Bluebirds draw with Reading.

However, staying in the Premier League will be harder even though all three promoted sides managed to stay up this season. Changes will need to be made to the squad because they need proven Premier League quality among their ranks.

Certainly, their might have to be a bit of book balancing but with the riches of the Premier League on their way, the Bluebirds could really raise some cash by selling on the unneeded members of their squad.

Here are three players who could leave in the summer...

Tomlin went out on loan to Nottingham Forest in January, which was a major success. Forest are heavily interested in him and the Bluebirds could take advantage of that because he is unlikely to be good enough for the Premier League, so they can extract as much value out of him as possible.

TransferMarkt value him at £2.70 million, but his importance to Forest's style since he joined means they could get a higher fee than that for him. This would be a great piece of business for a player that Cardiff don't really need and this could help bolster another area.

Richards has missed a large part of the season due to injury, which could influence the club to sell him because they need players who can provide consistency. They can't afford to be working around injury-prone players in the Premier League because they need their strongest XI on the pitch for as much as possible.

The right-back is valued at £675,000 on TransferMarkt, so they could look to bring someone else in permanently or opt for a loan in order to help survive their first season.

Madine only joined in January, but he was unable to score in the league so he could be moved on, although he did a lot more for the side. Warnock already has Kenneth Zohore, so he could opt to sell Madine back to a Championship club who would be interested in using him for a promotion push in a similar way to what Cardiff did.

He was signed for £6.12 million, so they could get a similar fee due to the proximity to that transfer as well as the fact that he helped them get promoted. Warnock needs to improve his forward options, so selling Madine and using that money to bring in someone else who is more used to this level would be the right move.
